Reasons to study Dance (BTEC Level 3)
Our course boasts an outstanding success rate, with many students progressing to leading dance colleges and universities across the country, including Bird, LIPA, Urdang, and Laine. You will engage in diverse and rigorous training across multiple dance styles and genres, supported by workshops led by visiting professional dance companies. Training takes place in a professional and inspiring environment, with numerous opportunities to perform in showcases and public performances, helping you build confidence and stage experience.
What you will study
C7: Exploration of dance styles, including Jazz, Contemporary, and Dance Theatre C8: Development of choreographic skills C9: Further development of choreographic and performance skills, with a focus on working as a company member F: Insight into the professional dance industry, career opportunities, and self-promotion strategies

How you will be assessed
The programme includes project-based assignments throughout, allowing you to apply your learning creatively. Your progress will be continuously monitored and assessed to support your development and achievement.
Priestley extra
Oxygen Dance Company is the college’s contemporary dance company, which strives to create interesting and original works from a variety of different stimuli, whilst also continuing to develop their technical skills. The process and exploration of choreographing is an extremely important part of the Company, as is the opportunity to showcase dance works and perform to live audiences. Application is through audition and is open to anyone studying at Priestley College.
