Reasons to study Music (Performance)
You are a talented and confident performer as an instrumentalist or vocalist.
You have an interest in listening to, and analysing, music.
You are interested in performing music as a soloist, in an ensemble, or multitrack recording.
You want to improve your instrumental or vocal skills to reach your full potential.
You want to pursue a career in the music industry.
Can be combined with Music Production to create a two A-Level equivalent combined course.Â
You may also choose to top this up to the equivalent of three A-Levels by taking Music Production and the Extended Music option.
What you will study
Solo and ensemble performance, performance to camera, rehearsal skills and techniques, performing for a multitrack recording, auditioning and session musicianship.
What you will need
It is likely you will have studied an instrument or vocals in one-to-one lessons either privately or at school. You may have studied GCSE or BTEC music at school although this is not a strict requirement. A basic knowledge of music theory is an advantage along with an ability to read musical scores, chord sheets or tabs.

Study Programme
A-Level and Vocational (Level 3) students are expected to follow a full study programme of three plus one AS-Level courses/equivalents. Your study programme can, however, include a Specialism as one of your choices.
